Welcome to Guiding Hands School

Guiding Hands is a non-denominational organization governed by the laws of the State of
California. We are also a licensed child care center through Community Care Licensing
and have been certified as a non-public school through the California State Department of
Education.

Guiding Hands accepts children between the ages of 2 and 14, pre-school through 8th
grade. To enhance positive growth patterns, student-to-staff ratio is 1 to 5. Credentialed
teachers with the assistance of ECE instructors provide a warm, loving, safe and
motivational learning environment that focuses on cognitive, social, self-help emotional
growth as related to both individualized educational goals and developmentally
appropriate thematic programming.

The purpose of Guiding Hands is to provide nurturance and acceptance of all individuals
within our community. Our motto is Acceptance of All, Exclusion of None. Instead of
instilling separatism and segregation within the structure of education, we propose to
educate all members of our society together. Therefore, Guiding Hands provides a full
inclusion program for disabled pre-schoolers, K through 8th grade, and their non-disabled
peers. Sensitivity to cultural values and various family systems is also explored. All the
children of Guiding Hands are encouraged to learn through both staff-developed and
child-selected activities. Staff instruction includes anti-bias, multicultural curriculum,
whole language, activity-based self-esteem development and problem solving strategies
through fun and exciting activities.

Parents are encouraged to become an active part of Guiding Hands to enhance and
maximize our children's potential through parent workshops, monthly meetings, daily
communication and fund raising activities. Together, we can build a partnership in the
best interest of our children.
